| Alumni & Supporters The Prep RFC Alumni community is coming along under the leadership of John Coyle, IV '90. Check out our e-Newsletters (see #6, 7) for more information. Also, check back here as we will post info on the Alumni game as details are confirmed and other links are at the bottom of the page. ----- There are three things about which we'd like to inform you: First, we are in our third year and thus we mostly still have to self-finance our activities. This can be expensive, as jerseys are close to $80 each, ref fees vary from $50 - $100 for home games, and we have to pay for field and medical kit supplies. As such, we have had to charge each player $100 as dues. Their team jackets, t-shirts and sweatshirts were extra charges. On top of this, our end of the year awards banquet was a great success and we would like to have an end of the year awards banquet again for the players. Therefore, if you would be willing to donate to the program, please get in contact with Head Coach Tom Farren '94 (tfarren@sjprep.org) or Team Moderator Scott Mullen '99 (smullen@sjprep.org). Or, if you would like to sponsor a player so that he may attend the awards banquet, that, too, would be greatly appreciated (details on cost to follow). We are also looking for sponsors for the banquet. Second, you are invited to attend our Banquet. As we did in our first two years, we'd like to show the players the support they have in the Prep alumni rugby community. Please go to the Banquet Page for details. Third, we are planning another Alumni Game. Last year's schedule is below, and we are finalizing plans for the new year schedule. We'll post it as soon as we have it: Date: Saturday, May 14, 2006 Time: 1 p.m. Location: Edgely Field in Philadelphia Fairmount Park Game info: The number of games to be played is dependent on the number of participants who show at the field. How many show will determine the side breakdown. The basic set-up is as follows: I. Mixed Games - high school and alums mixed teams 1 – the game is casual – it should NOT be taken too seriously 2 – ref is volunteer from the alumni 3 – the sides should be mixed current players and alumni 4 – the practice jerseys should be used for the two sides 5 – the time of each half should be limited to about 30 minutes II. Alumni Only Games 1 – the game is casual – it should NOT be taken too seriously 2 – ref is volunteer from the alumni 3 – the sides should be mixed between younger alumni and “seasoned” alumni 4 – the practice jerseys should be used for the two sides 5 – the time of each half should be limited to about 30 minutes I.a. Alumni “Squads” 1 – should some guys want to form a squad of guys to play either another squad or the mixed squad, that should be encouraged. a – i.e. “Maloney’s Maniacs”, “Gregory’s Goons”, etc. b - please keep names respectable 2 – possibility (if this occurs) of an “Alumni Cup” for the future Post Game: Should there be a desire to have a post-game adult social, Tír na Nóg is recommended (located in The Phoenix Bldg at 16th & Arch). Please e-mail preprfc@yahoo.com if you would be interested in getting together and having an alumni game. So far we have some positive responses. For this, too, we are looking for a sponsor for T-shirts, etc. I. General Team Info e-Newsletter Banquet / Ad Book Info The Rugby Fan - info Prep R.F.C.
